Colorado football coach Mike MacIntyre made a point of educating the media on a new rule in effect this season that might surprise some around the country.
This NCAA has decided it is not possible to spike the ball to stop the clock if there 2 or fewer seconds remaining. If a team makes a first down, which stops the clock in college football, it will not be able to spike the ball to stop it again once it is marked ready for play.
The rule is similar to those in basketball governing the minimum amount of time that is required to tip in a basketball off a pass or to catch and shoot.
"They're saying when teams play away, the clock guy there is a homer," MacIntyre said.
