Colorado football coach Jon Embree already has the first commitment to his 2012 recruiting class.

Defensive end Clay Norgard from Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch pledged his commitment on Thursday morning.

"I'm really excited to get up there and get started," Norgard said in a text message. "I'm so glad that I'm getting the chance to be a part this incredible new program."

Norgard, who is 6-feet tall and weighs 245 pounds, may begin his CU career at linebacker while he works to get bigger. He hopes to enroll early and be a part of spring ball in 2012.

Norgard has deep CU ties as both his parents went to school in Boulder. His father, Erik, played offensive line for the Buffs in the late 1980's and also played 10 season in the NFL.
