Colorado football coach Dan Hawkins added a 22nd player to his 2010 recruiting class on Saturday when safety Terrel Smith signed his letter of intent on a campus visit.
The 5-10, 185-pound Smith, from Paterson, N.J., played at Passaic County Tech High School in Wayne, N.J. He was a third-team All-State selection and a first-team selection on the All-Passaic County squad and the All-Tri County A League team as a senior.
Smith was credited with 24 passes broken up, 117 tackles three interceptions as a senior, and he also rushed for 1,261 yards and 10 touchdowns.
He is the second New Jersey prep standout in the 2010 class, as the Buffs also signed tailback Tony Jones from Don Bosco Prep earlier this month.
