He's here.

Per his Twitter activity, Bellflower, Calif., standout wide receiver and 2014 Colorado football target Shay Fields is in Boulder for his official visit with the Buffaloes.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound, four-star recruit is coming off a senior campaign where he hauled in 82 passes for 1,617 yards and 17 touchdowns for his CIF Open Division championship St. John Bosco team (16-0).

After the season, Fields tore it up on Jan. 5 at the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl in Carson, Calif., scoring a touchdown and catching a 47-yarder.

The recruitment process for Fields has been a chaotic one as he originally committed to Boise State in late June then flipped to Southern California in late October. After the coaching change at USC, new Trojan head coach Steve Sarkisian's recruiting staff reportedly cooled on Fields.

Fields is still committed to USC, but the four-star is hitting up Boulder this weekend with a trip to Cal -- where his cousin Bryce Treggs is a receiver -- set for next weekend. TCU recently offered him a scholarship, but the Horned Frogs might be getting in the Fields mix a little too late.

I was talking to Buff Zone's Kyle Ringo about Fields a week ago and he agreed CU will roll out the red carpet with an offer of early playing time; A blueprint on how to get a receiver to the NFL (Paul Richardson) helps the Buffs' cause. One of Colorado's final scholarships for the 2014 class undoubtedly is being held for the Bosco wide out.

Unless he falls in love with the CU program, the Flat Irons and his posh bed at the St. Julien, Fields' recruitment is likely to roll on to Signing Day in three weeks.

Fields would be the highest rated player in the class, per Rivals rankings, if he were to sign with CU and has the potential to be a game changer at the next level. Can CU close on the prized target? We'll find out.
