Colorado safety Afolabi Laguda has accepted an invitation to play in the 93rd East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 20.
The Shrine Game, to be played at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., is one of the top events for seniors to showcase their talent for NFL scouts.
Laguda is the third CU player to accept an invite to the Shrine Game, joining receiver Bryce Bobo and running back Phillip Lindsay. Both accepted invites late last month.
Laguda started all 12 games for the Buffs this past season, finishing fourth on the team with 69 tackles (48 solo). He also had six tackles for loss, four pass breakups, a team-high three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and an interception.
This will be the seventh consecutive year that CU will be represented at the Shrine Game. Last year, five Buffs — linebackers Jimmie Gilbert and Kenneth Olugbode, safety Tedric Thompson, defensive tackle Josh Tupou and cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon — accepted Shrine Game invitations.
