Colorado tight end Chris Bounds had a usually big game against Arizona, catching two passes for 41 yards and two touchdowns.
"It was good to see some tight ends get some love," quarterback Steven Montez said. "I can't remember the last time a tight end caught a pass here at Colorado, so it was good to get two touchdowns."
Going into the game, Bounds had just one catch - in the opener against Colorado State - for six yards. His three catches this season are the only three times CU has targeted a tight end.
In 14 games last year, the Buffs completed just four passes to tight ends, for 35 yards and a touchdown. Four different players caught those passes.
Bounds was the first CU tight end with multiple catches in a game since Sean Irwin had three in the 2015 season finale at Utah.
Asked if he'd like to see the tight end used more in the CU offense, Montez said, "My job is just to throw to the open man; it doesn't matter if it's a receiver, running back or tight end. If you're open, I'll get you the ball."
