While the Colorado women's basketball team made its official season debut on Sunday with a 70-65 win against Idaho, star point guard Chucky Jeffery is still waiting to get started.

The senior was suspended again Sunday. She also sat out the Buffs' exhibition win over Western State on Nov. 2.

"She broke team policy," head coach Linda Lappe said. "It's just day-by-day."

Asked if Jeffery will return to the court when the Buffs visit Missouri-Kansas City on Sunday, Lappe said, "Possibly."

Jeffery has been practicing every day and has even participated in warmups for both games so far.

"She's doing a great job," Lappe said. "She's practicing hard every single day and she's coming to work and she's been a team leader. She just needs to keep working hard and keep taking care of business."

The Buffs can't afford to have her sit out too long. Jeffery led the team in scoring (15.5 point per game), rebounding (8.0), assists (3.8) and steals (2.3) a year ago, earning All-Pac-12 honors. She was one of just six players to be voted by media to the preseason all-conference team.

"Yeah, we need her," Lappe said. "We needed her today."
