HAYS, Kan. -- University of Colorado harriers Joe Bosshard and Laura Thweatt each earned individual titles at the Fort Hays State Open on Saturday.

Thweatt finished the women`s 5K race in 17 minutes, 5.27 seconds -- more than 70 seconds faster than her nearest competition. Colorado School of Mines` Sydney Laws was second in 18:15.64.

Brooke Regan was the second Buff to finish the race and was 20th overall (19:15.67).

Bosshard won the men`s 8K race in 24:09.73. He finished nine seconds ahead of CSM`s Ben Zywicki (24:18.45).

CU`s Seth DeMoor took seventh overall, checking in at 24:58.81. Matt Biegner was 24th with a time of 25:48.54 and Steve Kasica recorded a 26th place-finish (25:52.16) to round out CU`s effort at the meet.

The Buffs` next meet is NCAA Pre-Nationals on Oct. 17, in Terre Haute, Ind. The meet is a chance for CU to preview the course for the NCAA Championship on November 23.
