Colorado women's soccer player Hannah Cardenas has been invited to camp with the U-19 United States Women's National Team. The U-19 team will train concurrently with the U-18 team in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., from Feb. 10-17.
All players participating in the camp between the two teams will be eligible for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in France in August.
Cardenas, a center back who is entering her sophomore season in 2018, is one of 24 players called up to the U-19 camp, including eight defenders. The Placentia, Calif., native started all 22 matches for CU this past fall and was second on the team with 1,948 minutes played. She helped the Buffs break the school records for most shutouts (14) and lowest goals-against average (0.61) in a season.
Cardenas also participated in the U-20 national team camp in November.
