At this rate, the Pac-12 Conference might need to consider renaming one of its weekly volleyball honors as the Brynna DeLuzio Award.
For the second consecutive week and the fourth time this season, Colorado's freshman setter has been named the league's Freshman of the Week.
It actually was a more workmanlike week than usual for DeLuzio, who leads the Pac-12 in overall assists (1,061) while ranking second in assists per set (11.05). DeLuzio recorded 28 assists in a sweep against Washington State but was momentarily sidelined by an ankle injury during the Buffs' sweep of then-No. 11 Washington, finishing with a season-low 22 assists. Redshirt freshman Emily DeMure filled the void by coming off the bench to post 13 assists — the most by any CU player besides DeLuzio this season.
The two victories gave CU seven wins in its past eight matches, and the run once again has pushed the Buffs into the No. 25 spot in the weekly American Volleyball Coaches Association national poll. The Buffs reached the No. 25 spot on two separate occasions earlier this year but immediately dropped out both times after suffering consecutive defeats after reaching the top 25 — a trend CU will look to end when it visits No. 18 UCLA on Thursday and No. 17 USC on Saturday.
