The record-setting shutout streak ended in emphatic fashion Friday for the Colorado women's soccer team.
So, too, did the Buffaloes' status as an unbeaten squad.
The team's first trip outside Colorado this season proved frustrating for the No. 25-ranked Buffs Friday evening, as host Texas topped CU 3-0.
CU had posted a record six consecutive shutouts to start the season and also entered the match with the program's longest consecutive scoreless streak in terms of minutes played. That streak officially ended at 621 minutes, 10 seconds, when Texas' Katie Glenn put the Longhorns on the board early in the 14th minute. It took only a little more than 11 minutes for the Buffs to concede their second goal of the game and the year, as a tally by Alexa Adams put the Longhorns up 2-0 in the 25th minute, a score that held through halftime.
Any hopes of a CU rally were essentially dashed quickly after the break, as a goal by Cyera Hintzen just 2:11 into the second half put Texas up 3-0.
CU's unblemished defense had allowed just eight shots on goal over the previous four games but surrendered five to Texas, while the Buffs managed just two. After going the distance in goal the previous two games Jalen Tompkins gave way to Scout Watson after halftime. Both goalies recorded one save.
The Buffs complete their swing through Texas on Sunday night against Texas-San Antonio (6 p.m. MDT).
