The Colorado women's lacrosse team continues to reap the benefits from its historic season.

On Friday, just hours before the Buffaloes were set to make their NCAA Tournament in a first-round match against UMass, five CU players were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's All-West/Midwest Region teams.

Junior defender Sarah Brown, junior attacker Darby Kiernan, and senior goalie Paige Soenksen received first-team honors, while senior attacker Johnna Fusco and sophomore midfielder Miranda Stinson earned spots on the second team.

Kiernan, CU's leading scorer, has established new single-season standards for assists and points for the Buffs' fourth-year program, owning 23 assists and 72 points to go along with 49 goals heading into Friday's date against UMass.

Brown and Soenksen have been the leaders of a defense that has been among the national leaders in scoring defense all season. Soenksen's .502 save percentage she took into the NCAA Tournament ranks sixth in the nation. Brown was a second team all-region selection last year.

Fusco tallied a team-leading 50 goals heading into this weekend while Stinston made a dramatic improvement this season from her freshman year, recording 35 goals and 15 assists heading into the showdown against UMass.
