A new and unique opportunity will be combined with a basketball reunion of sorts this summer for Colorado head coach Tad Boyle.

On Wednesday, USA Basketball announced Boyle a former collegiate teammate at Kansas, Danny Manning, will serve as assistants to Kentucky coach John Calipari for the U19 national team this summer at the World Cup. Calipari also was an assistant coach on those mid-1980s Kansas teams.

The 16-team FIBA U19 World Championships will be held July 1-9 in Cairo, Egypt. The team will hold a training camp in Colorado Springs June 18-25.

Boyle served as an assistant coach for the USA's bronze medal run in the 2015 Pan American Games and also worked at the training camp for the 2013 Men's World University Games.

"It's a great honor," Boyle said in a release from USA Basketball. "Number one to represent my country and United States basketball, but secondly to work with a guy like John Calipari is an honor. It's also an honor to be coaching alongside an old teammate in Danny Manning. The last time the three of us were together on a basketball court was 1985 at the University of Kansas. That was 32 years ago. So, it's something I'm really looking forward to — learning and being around coach Cal and Danny and representing our country. There is no greater honor."
