Colorado head cross country coach Mark Wetmore has been named the 2016 USTFCCCA Mountain Region Women's Coach of the Year.

This is the eighth time Wetmore has earned the honor for coaching the women, while it's his 20th overall honor as he has been named the men's region coach of the year 12 times.

The top-ranked CU women's team handily defeated the field at NCAA Mountain Region Championship on Nov. 11, winning its fourth straight region title. The Buffs placed all five of their scorers in the top 10 for 35 points, besting the runner-up, New Mexico, by 74 points (109). CU also won its second straight Pac-12 title, its third since 2011, on Oct. 28 in similar fashion, defeating Washington 33-74.
