Taylor Kornieck continued an impressive season Sunday by scoring the deciding goal in No. 22 Colorado's 3-2 upset of No. 10 California in Berkeley, Calif.

It was the highest-ranked opponent CU has beaten since 2010, and Kornieck's winner came in the final moment of the second period of extra time. The freshman headed in a free kick taken by teammate Stephanie Zuniga from near midfield.

The win preserved the Buffs' place atop the Pac-12 at 7-1 in league play (13-4 overall) and saved them from what would have been a tough draw. The Buffs led for almost the entire second half, with Danica Evans scoring in the 54th and 61st minutes for her second brace in three matches. But their 2-0 lead evaporated in the final minutes of regulation, as the Golden Bears (12-2-2, 5-1-2) struck in the 88th and 89th to force extra time.

Goalkeeper Jalen Tompkins made several key saves in extra time to keep the Buffs level.

Colorado hosts 12th-ranked UCLA at 3 p.m. Thursday at Prentup Field.
