Details have been finalized for this weekend's University of Colorado campus visit by Olympic bronze medalists Jenny Simpson and Emma Coburn.
The former CU All-Americans will be the guests of honor Saturday morning at the 31st annual Rocky Mountain Shootout, the only home meet of the season for the Buffaloes' cross country teams. Simpson and Coburn will serve as the official starters for the race, which begins at 9 a.m. at Buffalo Ranch on CU's South Campus.
From there Simpson, who became the first American woman to medal in the 1,500-meter run, and Coburn, who did the same in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, will shift over to Folsom Field to join the CU Alumni Association and the Alumni C-Club at their respective tailgate parties before the upstart Buffaloes football team kicks off against Oregon State at 12:30 p.m. The duo will be recognized on the field between the first and second quarters.
Coburn broke her own American steeplechase record in Rio with her third-place time of 9 minutes, 7.63 seconds.
