University of Colorado cross country standout Ben Saarel has earned his second consecutive Academic All-American honor.

Saarel, a junior from Salt Lake City, was named to the Division I Academic All-American team on Friday by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Saarel was a second-team selection after being named to the third team last year. The junior sports a 3.96 GPA as an engineering physics and computer science major while competing for the Buffs' cross country and track teams.

Saarel redshirted during the track and field season but enjoyed a standout cross country campaign last fall, finishing 21st at the NCAA Mountain Regional and 31st at the NCAA finals.
