It turns out, the Colorado Buffaloes' loss Thursday against Arizona in the Pac-12 Conference tournament will mark their final game in that particular venue for that particular tournament.
On Friday, league commissioner Larry Scott announced the Pac-12 tournament will be held at the new T-Mobile Arena for three seasons beginning in 2017.
"In only four years, we have created one of the very best postseason tournaments in all of college basketball here in Las Vegas," Scott said. "Our fans have responded, the atmosphere has been electric, and our student-athletes have really enjoyed playing in front of great crowds. We are now thrilled to build on our success in the state-of-the-art T-Mobile Arena and deliver a world-class experience to more Pac-12 fans."
Set to open next month, the T-Mobile Arena will boast a seating capacity of 20,000. The league moved the men's basketball tournament from Los Angeles to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas beginning with the 2013 tournament, and this year all sessions for the tournament sold out for the first time since the move. The MGM Grand has a seating capacity of 16,800.
