Fast break

What went right: Colorado did a nice job of taking advantage of early Oregon miscues, building a 14-point lead in the first half. CU had 28 points off of Oregon turnovers throughout the day.

What went wrong: The short-handed Buffs got into foul trouble, sending Oregon to the line 37 times. The Buffs were also dominated on the glass, 42-27.

Star of the game: Alexis Robinson. The freshman had 17 points and four assists and kept the Buffs in the game most of the second half.

What's next: CU will host No. 13 Stanford on Friday at 8 p.m.

EUGENE, Ore. — The shorthanded Colorado women's basketball team couldn't keep up with the Oregon Ducks on Sunday.

Colorado began the day with eight available players and ended it with six, falling to Oregon 77-70 at Matthew Knight Arena.

Freshman Alexis Robinson had 17 points and senior Jamee Swan added 16, but the Buffs (6-19, 1-13 Pac-12) lost their fourth in a row. Oregon (19-6, 8-6) improved to 8-1 in its last nine games.

CU has just 10 players to begin with, but reserve center Bri Watts didn't make the trip and junior sharp-shooter Lauren Huggins missed the game with the flu.

Adding to the misery, the Buffs spent the afternoon in foul trouble. Four of CU's eight players started the fourth quarter with four fouls, and then Makenzie Ellis and Zoe Beard-Fails fouled out in the fourth.

Oregon took advantage, going 24-of-37 from the free throw line. By comparison, CU attempted just 12 free throws (making nine).

Robinson scored nine points in the first half, helping the Buffs to a 14-point lead — their first double-digit advantage in Pac-12 play — in the first half.

Oregon, however, whittled away at that CU lead, outscoring the Buffs 16-4 during the last 4:50 of the first half. Oregon re-gained the lead in the third quarter and led by as many as 15 points in the second half.

Ducks star Jillian Alleyne had 26 points and 17 rebounds, while point guard Maite Cazorla added 23 points and guard Kat Kooper added 18.

Robinson's 17 points were the second-highest total of her season, and the most she's scored since her season high of 21 against Massachusetts on Nov. 27. She also had four assists.
