CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Colorado women's basketball team went into Gill Coliseum eyeing an upset on Friday night.

No. 8 Oregon State wasn't having it.

After a solid first half, the last-place Buffaloes were blown out by the first-place Beavers, 73-50.

Kennedy Leonard had 11 points, while Haley Smith and Jamee Swan had 10 each, but CU (6-18, 1-12 Pac-12) lost its third in a row, while Oregon State (21-3, 12-1) extended its winning streak to 11.

After a good first half, CU pulled within seven points early in the third quarter on a pair of jumpers by Swan. That was followed by four-minute scoring drought, however, which put the deficit back to 13.

The Buffs trailed by 14 points going into the fourth quarter, and Oregon State opened the final frame with a 12-0 run to put the game away. Oregon State's lead reached 27 points late in the fourth.

The Beavers had four players score in double figures, led by 16 points from Jamie Weisner and 15 from Sydney Wiese.


Oregon State leads the country in field-goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to hit just 30.9 percent of shots. The Buffs made 40.6 percent of their shots in the first half (13 of 32), but connected on just 26.5 percent (9 of 34) after the break.
