Colorado tennis topped Northern Colorado 6-1 in regional action in Greeley on Friday.

The Buffaloes improved to 4-4 on the season, including 3-2 in the Mountain Region, while UNC lost its first match to drop to 2-1.

Tina Bokhua and Nuria Ormeño Ruiz upset 40th-ranked Beth Coton and Remi Immler 6-4 at the No. 1 position. Annabelle Andrinopoulos and Jeannez Daniel helped give CU the doubles point.

"I'm happy with the way we came out and competed," head coach Nicole Kenneally said. "Northern Colorado has got some solid players and obviously their No. 1 doubles team is ranked nationally so that was a good win for Nuria and Tina."

Ormeño Ruiz beat Coton in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles to put the Buffs up 2-0 in the match.

Andrinopoulos won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 and Bokhua won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 to clinch the match with a 4-0 lead for CU.

Daniel and Vitaliya Alkhovik posted wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Daniel won 6-3, 0-6, 6-3 and Alkhovik won 5-7, 6-1, 11-9.

Freshman Brigitte Beck won an exhibition match in three sets.

CU continues its month-long road trip next weekend at Tulane and No. 19 Ole Miss.
