Colorado has added more firepower to its 2016 recruiting class.

On Sunday, Pookie Maka, a three-star linebacker from Cottonwood High School in Utah, officially announced on Twitter that has verbally committed to CU.

A 6-foot-3, 205-pounder, Maka chose the Buffs over several other schools, including Utah. He had offers from half the schools in the Pac-12 conference.

Maka made his official visit this weekend, along with Cottonwood teammate and fellow linebacker Fua Pututau. Expected to serve a two-year LDS mission before going to school, Pututau has taken official visits to CU, BYU and Utah over the past three weekends.

With Maka now on board, the Buffs have 14 high school or junior college players expected to sign letters of intent on Wednesday. In addition, quarterback Davis Webb has announced his intention to transfer from Texas Tech to CU at the end of the school year.
