Senior Nicole Edelman leads a group of five Buffaloes who earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors, announced Wednesday..

Edelman was named to the second team, while teammates junior Cierra Simpson and sophomores Anna Pfefferle, Stephanie Shadley and Gabby Simpson were named to the honorable mention team. This is Edelman's third honor as she was a two-time honorable mention selection, and it is the second time Cierra Simpson has been named to the honorable mention team. This is the first honor for Pfefferle, Shadley and Gabby Simpson.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

Edelman, a four-year starting setter for the Buffs, has recorded a 3.52 GPA while majoring in finance and management while minoring in Spanish. She has played in 30 matches this season and is averaging 9.88 assists per set, which is sixth in the Pac-12. Edelman is also recording 2.12 digs per set, which is second on the team.

Pfefferle, a middle blocker, is an arts and science open major and has a 3.46 GPA. She has played in all 30 matches and averages 1.96 kills, 0.15 aces, 0.54 digs and 0.96 blocks per set. Pfefferle is attacking at a .338 clip, which is 10th in the conference.

Shadley has seen action in several roles this season, from a serving specialist to outside hitter to defensive specialist, she has been a key contributor for the Buffs. She has a 3.53 GPA and is majoring in Classics. This season she has played in 22 matches and is averaging 0.85 digs per set.

Gabby Simpson, a right side hitter, has a 3.30 GPA while majoring in strategic communication. She has played in all 30 matches this campaign. She is second on the team with 3.36 kills per set and ranks tenth in the Pac-12 with 3.92 points per set. She also adds 0.21 aces, 1.72 digs and 0.68 blocks per set.

Cierra Simpson, a libero, has a 3.25 GPA while majoring in advertising. She has played in all 30 matches this season and leads CU with 4.09 digs per set, which ranks seventh in the conference. In conference-only matches, she is averaging the fifth best mark with 4.51 digs per set.
