Colorado football recruit Nelson Spruce was arrested late last month for marijuana possession at school the Daily News in Los Angeles reported on Tuesday.
Spruce, a three-star wide receiver from Westlake Village High School, was one of the first recruits to commit to first-year CU coach Jon Embree back in December. He signed a national letter of intent to play for the Buffs in February.
Spruce, 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, plays a position where the Buffs are thin on quality depth and has the potential to earn playing time as a true freshman assuming he is successfully admitted to Colorado.
He caught 73 passes for 1,292 yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior and was named one of the Most Valuable Players for the Marmonte League last fall.
