Colorado football coach Dan Hawkins headbutted one of his players who was already wearing a helmet during a rowdy pregame session in the locker room Saturday at Folsom Field.
Hawkins nose was cut and bloodied but he brushed it off after his team rallied to beat Hawaii 31-13 in the home opener.
"We got a little hyped before the game," Hawkins said. "But I'm an old fullback. I'm used to playing with a bloody nose."
Hawkins has been criticized in the past for his teams sometimes lacking emotion. He made sure that wasn't the case in a pivotal game against the Warriors.
"He was ready to go today," linebacker B.J. Beatty said. "I think he wanted to play."
