Known as one of the best blockers on the team, Geer was the lone Buff to make the Associated Press` first team.
The 6-foot-4 tight end caught 36 passes for 402 yards and four touchdowns for the Buffs (3-9) this season. He averaged 33.5 yards per catch.
His accomplishment caps an up-and-down career.
Geer was the team`s leading receiver in 2006. The Grand Junction native was slowed by injuries early in both of the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Also, Geer was suspended from the Buffs for the 2008 spring semester after he was arrested and charged with felony assault for his role in an off-campus fist fight.
But this summer Geer was voted
"Part of the joys of this job are just seeing kids grow up a little bit, and get the big picture and have a light bulb come on," CU coach Dan Hawkins said of Geer in October. "He's one of those guys. He obviously went through some things and has really grown from that."
The Buffs landed two players on the second team.
Junior wide receiver Scotty McKnight, who led CU in receptions with 76 for 893 yards, made the second team.
Joining McKnight on the second team was junior defensive back Jimmy Smith.
Four Colorado players were selected for the honorable mention team, including: offensive lineman Nate Solder; linebacker Jeff Smart; and defensive backs Cha'Pelle Brown and Jalil Brown.
