Colorado quarterback Steven Montez has been named to the watch list for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award.

Montez was one of 50 players - including 17 quarterbacks - named to the preseason watch list. He's one of five Pac-12 players on the list, along with Washington quarterback Jake Browning and running back Myles Gaskin, Stanford running back Bryce Love and Arizona quarterback Khalil Tate.

Earlier this month, Montez was named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, another national player of the year honor. Montez, who is from El Paso, Tex., has also been named to the watch list for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, which goes to the nation's most outstanding offensive player with ties to Texas.

As a sophomore last year, Montez threw for 2,975 yards and 18 touchdowns, while rushing for 338 yard and three scores.

Other Buffs on preseason watch lists include kicker James Stefanou for the Lou Groza Award, punter Alex Kinney for the Ray Guy Award and safety Nick Fisher for the Wuerffel Award, which honors community service.
