Apparently organizers of the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands are keen on hosting another reunion between Tad Boyle and Danny Manning.
On Tuesday the brackets for the November basketball showcase was released, with the Colorado Buffaloes set to open the tournament on Nov. 17 against Quinnipiac. The Buffs will play either Wake Forest or Drake in the second game, with the losers of those two contests meeting on Nov. 18 and the winners getting an off-day before colliding on Nov. 19. All eight teams in the field — the other two opening-round games are Mercer-Liberty and Drexel-Houston — will play their finales on Nov. 20.
Given the struggles of Quinnipiac (10-21) and Drake ( 7-24) this past season, the stage is set for a reunion between Boyle's Buffs and Manning, the head coach of Wake Forest. Boyle and Manning were teammates at Kansas in the mid-1980s and will be reunited this summer as assistants for the U.S. U19 team at the World Championships in Egypt. That team will be led by Kentucky coach John Calipari, an assistant on Boyle and Manning's KU team.
While most specific dates have yet to be finalized, CU's nonconference schedule for 2017-18 is growing clearer. CU will host Portland, Northern Colorado, Denver, Air Force, and New Mexico while visiting Colorado State and Xavier. In addition to the Paradise Jam, the Buffs will play a neutral-floor contest against Iowa on Dec. 22 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
