University of Colorado volleyball player Gabby Simpson was selected to the AVCA All-Pacific South honorable mention team, which was released on Tuesday.

"I'm very proud of Gabby and happy to see her get recognized for the success she had this season," CU head coach Jesse Mahoney said. "She is a special player with a very unique skillset - to be an elite performer in both the attacking and setting roles is something that you don't often see in today's game."

Simpson, a 6-3 setter and right side hitter from Colorado Springs, Colo., had an excellent junior season despite missing eight matches, three at the start of the season and five at the end, due to injury. She was second on the team in kills (2.47) and assists (5.48) and was fourth in digs (2.38) and blocks (0.64).

A Pac-12 Preseason Team selection, Simpson was named the CU Athlete of the Week on Sept. 27 after recording CU's first-ever 20-20 double-double in kills and assists. The 20-20 double-double was also part of a triple-double (22 kills, 25 assists and 10 digs). Simpson started in every match she played during the season (22) and saw time in 87 sets.
