Tickets for babies
Posted September 14, 2007
Just saw the Channel 4 "investigative" report on the fact that CU's athletic department requires fans to buy tickets for infants.
The person complaining in this case had a baby girl that she wanted to hold on her lap for Saturday's game vs. the Seminoles. She was mad when CU told her she had to buy a ticket for the infant.
Here's an idea: Find a baby-sitter.
For crying out loud, an 8 p.m. game that won't be over until well past 11 p.m. is NO place for an infant. In fact, a football stadium at any time of day with 50,000 people is no place for an infant that can by no means grasp what's going on.
For starters, it's not healthy for the kid. Then there are the folks who have the "joy" of sitting next to the infant. If you're going to torture those folks, at least fork over the price of admission for your kid.
Of course, Channel 4 will never take common sense or logic into account when reporting a non-story.

I love investigative being in quotes. classic. Where did this sudden outpouring of care over this issue come from. This has been CU's policy basically since the foundation was first poured for the stadium like 85 years ago. Yet I think this is the 4th story I think I've seen on this during September. Hearing Parents complain about this is about as interesting as watching those "Hey, the kids are back in Boulder, let's go talk to Hill residents to see what they think" stories. Totally agree with everything you said Neil.

Having to buy a ticket for a baby is a policy in just about every stadium.... In fact what kind of parent would subject their baby to the loud decibels likely to be achieved during game time? Maybe Channel 4 should have called social services if they really "cared".

That was the dumbest story I have ever seen --- and as a journalism alum, I was laughing hysterically with my wife as we watched. What the reporter also failed to point out is that the infant needing ticket policy is actually a rule of the Big XII.....
We have a 5-month old and we are going to the game tonight --- and trust me, I am as big a Buff fan as there is (my pops starting taking me when I was 5, but that's years old not months)but we never even considered taking our kid... What stupid-axx parent is going to bring a three month old to a game in the first place? And an 8 p.m. kickoff nonetheless? That woman is an idiot and it is too bad that her child is going to grow up with a mom who lacks common sense.
That story alone shed some light on Florida State and its fans, which if you are wondering, is a terrible institution of higher learning. All you need to get admitted to that school is a pulse and be willing to be filmed for the Girls Gone Wild videos. I don't know if any of you noticed, but every woman on that video is a student at Florida St.
I hope we take the 'Noles behind the woodshed for a whippin' and this woman sits in the visitor section and her child throws a three hour straight tantrum.
Turn out the lights for the BLACKOUT!
