Another gym rat
Posted July 3, 2008
I’ll have a Q&A with incoming freshman Alyssa Fressle in the paper in a few days. Here’s a quick anecdote as a preview:
CU coach Kathy McConnell-Miller went to Alyssa Fressle’s dorm the night she moved to campus at the beginning of June to check on her incoming freshman.
After her visit, McConnell-Miller pulled out of the dorms and saw someone walking down the sidewalk with a basketball in her arm.
This was about 8 o’clock at night.
Upon closer look, McConnell-Miller saw that it was sophomore-to-be Brittany Spears — walking home from the gym.
A few days later, McConnell-Miller was again leaving campus late in the day. This time she saw two players walking home from the gym together — Spears and Fressle.
That’s a great sign for McConnell-Miller, seeing her top players spending extra time in the gym practicing their shot.
The group is growing, too.
“Spears, Blythe, Houston, Fressle — they’re thick,” McConnell-Miller said.

The video portion of the Fressle interview is already up on Buffzone.com

McConnell-Miller wasn’t trying to single out any one player as the only one working the hardest. She said everyone on the team that was here for the first summer term has been doing great in their strength and conditioning program.
...
A little bird told me that Chelsea Dale posted picture on a website of herself wearing a boot because she had injured her foot. She posted this before telling anyone at CU that she was hurt.
Therefore, CU officials don’t know how badly she hurt her foot.
Dale is at home in California, but returning to CU this weekend for the start of the upcoming summer term and she will be evaluated when she returns to Boulder.
