Surprised
Posted January 15, 2008
It was a little surprising Monday to find CU still ranked, checking in at No. 25, after losing at home Sunday to Iowa State.
Not that losing to Iowa State is bad, but losing at home to an unranked team doesn't help.
The biggest reason for my surprise, however, is that there were so many other candidates for the top 25 other than CU.
What do you have to do to get in the top 25? Apparently beating Texas A&M and Texas, in the same week, and on the road, isn't good enough. But that's what Kansas State did last week and the Wildcats find themselves in the receiving votes category.
It won't be easy for CU to stay in the top 25 this week. The Buffs host A&M, picked to win the Big 12, on Tuesday, and then go to Manhattan, Kan., on Saturday to face the Wildcats.
Kansas State, meanwhile, after opening the Big 12 with two road wins, will be at home all this week, facing Texas Tech before taking on CU.
