Powers proposes

Posted November 30, 2007

Before the first game of the season senior guard Susie Powers addressed the team.

She gave each player a note and a ring pop (a piece of hard candy attached to a plastic ring).

“I bought bought ring pops for the entire team and I made it the ‘Ring Pop Challenge,’” Powers said. “I wrote a note saying that I propose a commitment to the team of no turnovers.”

Powers hasn’t broken her vows.

She has 16 assists against three turnovers through five games.

Given those numbers, Powers leads the Big 12 in assist-to-turnover ratio.

Heading into the Colorado State game, Powers is coming off one of her better games in a CU uniform.

Powers had a career-high eight assists and tied career marks for points with 12, rebounds with seven and field goals with four in Wednesday’s 69-60 win over Northern Colorado.
