CU women's basketball

Boring

Posted July 20, 2007

CU released its schedule Thursday and at first glance (that's all you need) it fails to do its job -- get fans excited about the season.

Which home games are on there that make you look forward to going to the Coors Events Center?

Mildly, three (out of nine) -- Wyoming, Clemson and Pepperdine (but only because of assistant coach Shelley Sheetz's return to Boulder).

That shouldn't cut it at CU. Give us at least one big name, such as LSU.

If CU isn't on a five-game win streak heading into the Big 12....

Take a look at the home games for yourself:

-- Coors Classic -- CU vs. Siena on Nov. 23 and likely against Clemson on Nov. 24 (Rice is the other team)

-- Northern Colorado on Nov. 28

-- Wyoming, Dec. 5

And my favorite home stretch ever:

-- Texas Southern, Dec. 14

-- Dartmouth on Dec. 21

-- Southern Utah on Dec. 28

-- Jacksonville State on Dec. 30

-- Finally, Pepperdine on Jan. 4.

It's unfortunate that coach Kathy McConnell-Miller has few options -- she has to schedule some wins to help develop some of the young players. It requires that fans be patient and hope she schedules more interesting games in the future.

But it sure is tough to sit through this one.
