New zoning rules

Posted December 12, 2007

Colorado inserted a zone press for the Wyoming game and used it at Vanderbilt, too, with some success.

The Buffs aren't necessarily trying to force turnovers with it.

Coach Kathy McConnell-Miller has noticed that a lot of teams work the 30-second shot clock down to 7 or 8 before taking a shot against the Buffs.

So she put in the zone press so teams would cross halfcourt with about 20 seconds left on the shot clock.

"Then we're not having to defend people's sets for 30 seconds," KMM said. "That's really our objective with that."
