Mizzou brings the star power
Posted July 21, 2008
Leave it to Missouri all-conference defensive back William Moore to put in perspective just how far the Tigers have come in recent years.
Moore, a fifth-year senior, joined the program in 2004 when the only Tiger with significant national name recognition was former quarterback Brad Smith.
"When I first got here, all I knew about Missouri football was Brad Smith," Moore said. "Now we've got so many guys you don't know who to talk about."
Four Tigers joined coach Gary Pinkel here today, including Moore and possible Heisman Trophy candidates Chase Daniel and Jeremy Maclin and tight end Chase Coffman, a likely first-day draft pick next spring.
Daniel spent his 45 minutes with reporters engulfed in a mob of 30 to 40 media members nearly the entire time. Maclin came equipped with bling. He was wearing a fairly gaudy ring players received after winning the Cotton Bowl and the Big 12 North last year.
The Tigers are favored to get back to the Big 12 championship again this year.
I'll have more on the Tigers on Buffzone later.
