Spring Awards

Colorado football coaches handed out awards for the best performances of spring Saturday. Here is a look at the players honored.

Eddie Crowd Award for outstanding leadership, Scotty McKnight; Fred Casotti Award for most improved offensive back, Demetrius Sumler; Joe Romig Award for most improved offensive lineman, Ryan Miller; Hale Irwin Award for most improved defensive back, Anthony Perkins; Dan Stavely Award for most improved defensive lineman B.J. Beatty; Bill McCartney Award for most improved special teams player, Travis Sandersfeld, John Wooten Award for outstanding work ethic, Patrick Williams, Dick Anderson Award for outstanding toughness, Jalil Brown; Greg Beikert Award for Attention to detail, Jeff Smart; Jim Hansen Award for outstanding academics, Maurice Cantrell.

The Iron Buffalo Awards are in their second year after being handed out for the first time last spring by the strength and conditioning coaches led by Jeff Pitman.

These awards acknowledge hard work, dedication, toughness and total poundage lifted in the weight room.
