Friends say Sipili won't transfer
Posted September 26, 2007
So I've spent the past few days talking with a few players who I know are close friends with suspended CU linebacker Michael Sipili. They say Sipili is still committed to finishing his career in Boulder.
The school's Judicial Affairs Committee suspended Sipili from school last week for his role in a street fight over the summer. Sipili plead guilty in Boulder County Court to misdemeanor charges earlier this month and was sentenced to probation, work detail, and community service. He was also suspended by coach Dan Hawkins for the first three games this season.
He was originally charged with a felony after smashing a fellow student's face so badly, the guy needed surgery.
Linebacker Jordon Dizon, a team captain, said Sipili is frustrated but he is also upbeat about the future
"He's going to stay," Dizon said. "He's going to stay around. He's going to try to get a job and do what he has to do to stay healthy and work out. He can't come on campus, but he's going to find a way to do it."
Sipili is basically using this season as a redshirt year. He will be a third-year sophomore next season with three years to play.
