Bowl gifts for Buffs

Posted November 30, 2007

KYLE RINGO373[1]

I spent some time on the phone today with several bowl game officials. No one is ready to commit to who goes where in the selection process, but they did tell me what the Buffs will get in bowl gifts at their respective bowls.

The Buffs are probably going to be in either the Independance Bowl on Dec. 30., in Shreveport, La., or the Insight Bowl on New Year's Eve in Tempe, Ariz. There is a slight chance they could end up in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 28 in Houston.

NCAA Rules allow bowls to give players and other members of the program gifts with a total retail value between $350 and $500. They can give 125 gifts per team.

If the Buffs end up in the Independence Bowl (the most likely scenario) they will receive a Sony home theatre system, an Independence Bowl Watch, a New Era baseball cap and a commemorative football.

You can check out the home theater system here: BOWL GIFT

If the Buffs go to the Insight Bowl they will receive a Microsoft Xbox 360 with NCAA Football 2008, a Boliva Insight Bowl men's watch and an Insight Bowl hat.

Not bad either way. But I think the Buffs can start planning where they might keep their home theater systems.

Kyle, Thanks for delving into this. Good to hear the chances for the Texas Bowl are slim. Here's hoping it's Independence Bowl or Insight for CU. What has to happen for us to end up in each respective bowl. Any idea, or is it too convoluted? If MU wins are we in the Independence? I think the players may be pulling for the Insight Bowl and the XBox.

Whining little Okies buy their way into the Insight.

Feel bad for Tempe.

Saheeb - Boone Pickens needs to withdraw his offer to buy a bunch of empty seats that OSU will not fill for CU to get into the Insight Bowl (which may end up being renamed the Boone Picken$ bowl after this season).

Why do they need a home theater or an XBox anyway ? Buy them something useful for their education or something
