Smith still hospitalized
Posted August 19, 2007
Colorado coach Dan Hawkins said wide receiver Josh Smith will remain in Boulder Community Hospital again tonight and he hopes the true freshman will be released Monday.
Smith suffered a bruised kidney in Saturday's scrimmage and was hospitalized Saturday night.
The 6-foot, 180-pound product of Moorpark, Calif., has been the surprise of preseason practices, but it is not known when he will be able to return to practices. He is likely out of the season opener against Colorado State.
...Defensive George Hypolite has a bum leg and was pushing wheelbarrows through both practices Sunday.
...The afternoon session ended with offensive linemen against defensive linemen in seven-on-seven play. Center Daniel Sanders played quarterback for the offense and threw one pass so high in the air it prompted Hawkins to ask, "Was that a punt?" Defensive end Alonzo Barrett ended the session with an interception.
...The Buffs will have a walk-through Monday morning and spend the afternoon helping each other move out of dorms they have occupied over the summer. ...Hawkins said he plans to use each of the final three two-a-day sessions this week.

Hey Kyle,
Did Smith get injured on the play when he ran into the wall? I was at the scrimmage and he played afterwards. Do you really think he will miss the first game (or, worse, the entire season)? That would be a HUGE loss. He seemed to be the one guy on the team that can could really stretch the field. Man, what horrible news!!
